Men's 1s battle in tough top of table loss

Bristol & West 1 – 3 Team Bath Buccaneers

Considering it was a miserable Saturday afternoon up on top of Bath an overwhelming crowd had gathered by the side of the pitch anticipating a thrilling match. They were disappointed, as Bath Buccs 1st team rolled out in a National League fixture against Fareham.

Much to our amazement, most of the crowd stayed around after this to watch league leaders Bath Buccs 3s take on second place Bristol & West. Plenty of crowd-pleasing action ensued. Blood was drawn. Penalty corners were won. Penalty corners were lost. Cards were shown. Goals scored and conceded. A fractured wrist. An open goal missed from a yard away (over the crossbar - twice!). But most importantly, the one thing that the masses had travelled from far and wide to witness was delivered not once, but twice…. The trademark pass between our centre backs and the opposition forwards.

Despite the result it was a cracking, quality game on Saturday, enjoyed by all. Bath agreed the score line didn’t reflect the game and we took great encouragement that we had played to such a high standard throughout the match, looking very promising for next season.
