The O50s put up another tenacious display today in the wind/hail/sleet against a talented and dangerous Epsom side (with considerable experience of deep progression into the tournament) and were watched by a large number of supporters - thank you, it was appreciated. They came out victorious thanks once again to a good goal keeping display from Adrian Dann, a superb goal by Lindsay Cumberbatch and the winning flick by Mike Wingent.
Although, highlight of the match has to be the opening goal: an enterprising run down the right wing evading tackles, Mike Wingent got into the 25 and centred to Lindsay Cumberbatch in the D - BANG! the ball was back into the playing area before the keeper had moved...goal, 1-0 to Bristol & West. the rest of the second half was even, but we probably should have scored a second. Nevertheless, 1-0 at half time.
Then a long period during the second half whilst they attacked our 25 & D, winning many corners but failing to convert. Then a lapse in concentration allowed them to move from a free hit into the D and pass into a forward alone in front of AD. Desperate measures by Rob Ledger saw a green card for the tackle & a stroke awarded. Converted for 1-1. Into the last 10 minutes, many corners to Epsom, and B& W could not recover their earlier control, but held firm. 1-1 at full time.
Penalties were scored to 2-2 (2 each taken), then saw two missed by each team, next saw Epson 5th taker step up and pass it wide - so all on the final flick that was despatched to take us to Lee Valley.
