With a season cut short because of COVID-19 and our Summer League plans cancelled, our members have been itching to get back together since lockdown began. We're pleased to say that we have now carefully and cautiously begun our pre-season training.
Our Monday night fitness sessions take place outside our clubhouse in Hambrook where our coaches put small groups of members through a series of circuits, sprints and other activities around Whiteshill Common. The sessions are designed with social distancing in mind and have proved popular with members from across the men's, women's and junior sections. It's the perfect opportunity to get to know some new members and reconnect with your team-mates after the long break from hockey.

Last month also saw some members returning to the pitch for the first time as we began on-pitch training for the men's and women's 1st-3rd teams at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex. The sessions are non-contact and limited by numbers at this stage to adhere to social distancing regulations. We are running the sessions on Wednesday nights with the men's and women's squads alternating weekly.
Of course safety is of primary importance, so these are cautious first steps but we will inform all of our members when restrictions are eased and our usual training locations begin to open.
Further guidance has been released from England Hockey as of the end of last week, so we are now reviewing this and hope to be able to update all members very shortly as to when training / matches are likely to return.
